TOXCHEM+ FAQs

|
Demonstration mode
|
|
Q
|
Why does TOXCHEM+ only run in
"Demonstration" mode?
|
|
A
|
TOXCHEM+ runs in demo mode unless a licensed
hardlock device is installed. If you have a hardlock key
installed, the most likely cause is out-dated or improperly
installed hardlock drivers. Ensure that you are using the latest
release of TOXCHEM+ and the
most recent hardlock driver files.
NOTE : Version 3 of TOXCHEM+ is not
compatible with Version 2 hardlocks. Also ensure that you have
administrative privileges to install any drivers under
WinNT/2000/XP.
Download the latest release of TOXCHEM+ V3, the last release of
TOXCHEM+ V2 or most recent hardlock drivers.

example.wtp error
|
|
Q
|
When I run TOXCHEM+ I get a message
"Cannot open file example.wtp.
|
|
A
|
If you have manually created a shortcut to
Toxplus3.exe, the program will use the location of the shortcut
as the current directory and will not find the example file.
Follow the steps below to ensure that the "Start In" directory
for your shortcut is your TOXCHEM+ 3 directory :
-
Right-click on the
program shortcut.
- Select "Properties" from the speed menu.
- In the "Start in" entry box type the path
to the Toxchem+ 3 directory. (It will be the same as the
shortcut path without the "toxplus3.exe".)
- Click "Apply".

Mass balance failure
|
|
Q
|
Why do I see "Mass Balance Failure" when
I run TOXCHEM+?
|
|
A
|
One of the flows leaving a process is
greater than the influent flow. Check flows around the failed
process and try running again.
|
|
Network
|
|
Q
|
Why does TOXCHEM+ run in "Demo" mode over
my network?
|
|
A
|
You require a network hardlock (pink and
green key) to enable TOXCHEM+ to run in "full" mode over your
network. If you have a network hardlock, consult the following
checklist :
-
Ensure that the
hardlock key is firmly attached to the parallel (printer) port
on the hardlock "server" computer.
- Ensure that you have the
most recent releases of the hardlock device drivers and
HL-Server.
- Check that the HL-Server program is
running on the "server" computer. (Use Task Manager in
WinNT/2000/XP).
- Check that the HL-Server start-up
settings are correct :
- Right-click on the HLS32 icon in the
start up folder.
- Select "Properties".
- Look at the "target" line for the
shortcut. If you are using IPX/NetBios (defaults) for the
hardlock,
the line should appear as
follows :
Win9x/Me :
"[Drive:]\Program Files\HL-Server\Hls32.exe" -m:24969 -c:IPX,NetBios
-e:NetBios
WinNT/2000/XP :
"[Drive:]\Program Files\HL-Server\Hls32svc.exe" -m:24969 -c:IPX,NetBios
-e:NetBios
If you have manually enabled TCP/IP, everything after -m:42969
SHOULD BE REMOVED.
Edit the line accordingly.
- Check that you have the correct
Environment settings. If you are using IPX/NetBios (defaults)
the following line should appear in your autoexec.bat (Win9x)
or your Environment Variables(Win NT/2000/XP) :
SET HL_SEARCH=278p,378p,3BCp,IPX,NetBios
If you have enabled TCP/IP manually, this line SHOULD BE
REMOVED from the autoexec.bat file (Win9x/NT/2000/XP) AND the
Environment Variables (Win NT/2000/XP).
- Restart the "server" computer after
making any of the above changes..

|
Internet connection
|
|
Q
|
Why does TOXCHEM+ try to dial my internet
connection?
|
|
A
|
Single-User / Demo:
-
Check your
autoexec.bat file (Win9x) or your Environment Variables for the
following line :
SET HL_SEARCH=278p,378p,3BCp,IPX,NetBios
- If this line is not present, please add
it.
- Restart your computer.
Network:
-
The dial-up window
may appear if you have enabled TCP/IP for a network hardlock.
(The TOXCHEM+ installation program disables TCP/IP by default.)
If you must use TCP/IP, there are a couple of ways to prevent
the dial-up window from appearing when you start TOXCHEM+. The
most likely cause is that another program has replaced your
Windows WINSOCK.DLL file with one of it's own. The quickest fix
is to copy the original WINSOCK.DLL from your Windows disk over
the new one. (It's located in the Windows directory.) If this is
not an option, you can specify a static IP address for the
hardlock "server" computer, and then add the following
Environment Variable: (Add to autoexec.bat in Win9x.)
- SET HLS_IPADDR=255.255.255.255
(The address above should be replaced by the IP address of the
network hardlock.)
- Restart your computer.

Novell network
|
|
Q
|
Will TOXCHEM+ run over a Novell network?
|
|
A
|
Yes. TOXCHEM+ will run on any computer using
Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP operating systems regardless of the
underlying network architecture. Network copies of TOXCHEM+ can
run over a Novell network provided the hardlock key and server
utilities are installed on a Windows-based workstation. To
install HL-Server on a Novell server,
contact Hydromantis, Inc. support.

|
Windows XP
|
|
Q
|
Will TOXCHEM+ run on Windows XP?
|
|
A
|

Windows XP.
Download the latest hardlock drivers.
